New Chapter in the Academy of Health Professions - Daytime classes!

Twenty-two Academy of Health Professions students met for their first day of classes in the new Laboratory/classroom in the Health Sciences Building on Middle Street.  Students were excited to use this new space as home to the Academy.   With funding from the Department of Labor, new cabinets holding  clinical supplies are now set along the walls, and tables and stools have replaced the standard tablet chairs giving the instructor a viable laboratory space for students to learn.  The Academy of Health Professions will utilize this lab space for classes in offered in its programs.

Connecting with our Partnering Career Centers

On Friday, September 14, Linda Rohrer, director of Career Source in Cambridge, invited Nancy Quinn and Cheri Fisher, MCC’s College and Career Navigators, and Marilynn Gallagan, Dean of Admissions, to attend a staff meeting. Linda and Marilynn explained the goals of the Massachusetts Community College Workforce Development Transformation Agenda grant and how both the college and the career center would contribute to the achievement of those goals. Nancy and Cheri discussed their backgrounds and skills, and detailed some of the activities that they have participated in since they arrived at MCC to help them understand the services the career center offers. We ended with a question and answer period, which resulted in some extremely productive discussion.

At the conclusion of the meeting, we agreed that Cheri and Nancy would spend Wednesdays in the Career Source offices, where they can meet with potential students and work with career center staff.

Similar meetings are scheduled with the Career Place in Woburn and the Career Center of Lowell.
