Do you oversee an English Department at a public high school in
the Merrimack Valley area? Join us for
the K-16 English Department Chair Institute at Middlesex Community College. The
purpose of the Institute is to continue to collaborate and support our
collective efforts to prepare teachers and students for future success with ELA
PARCC assessments and prepare students for college-level writing. The goal of
the Institute is to share information and strategies and identify needed professional
development for secondary and post-secondary teachers.
The first meeting of the Institute will be held on the
afternoon of Thursday, Nov. 14 at the Middlesex Bedford campus. The agenda will
include current efforts to align curriculum to the new K-12 Massachusetts ELA
Framework, alignment efforts at Middlesex and University of Massachusetts
Lowell as well as the logistics of the Institute. A stipend for a
12-hour commitment and a copy of the book
Content-Area Writing: Every Teacher’s Guide
by Daniels, Zemelman and Steineke will be provided to each participant.
If you are interested in participating, please contact Associate
Dean for K-16 Partnerships Kim Burns at firstname.lastname@example.org.
