Pyne Middle School, who visited MCC&amp;#39;s city campus to build their own hot air balloons!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;img src="http://community.middlesex.mass.edu/photos/mccblog/images/1856718/281x375.aspx" /&gt;&lt;img src="http://community.middlesex.mass.edu/photos/mccblog/images/1856717/281x375.aspx" /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The STEM club hosted about 15 middle school students, and with about 15 MCC students, turned MCC&amp;#39;s city campus cafeteria into a balloon ballroom!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;img src="http://community.middlesex.mass.edu/photos/mccblog/images/1856716/500x375.aspx" /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Using tissue paper, glue and wire, the STEM Club members combined the raw materials with their engineering and math savvy to create hot air balloons!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;img src="http://community.middlesex.mass.edu/photos/mccblog/images/1856715/500x375.aspx" /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The students learned first-hand what makes a hot air balloon rise, and what size and shapes are the best for the balloons.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;img src="http://community.middlesex.mass.edu/photos/mccblog/images/1856710/281x375.aspx" /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;They learned to calculate the volume of air inside different shapes of balloons, as well as how much air weighs, and the reason hot air rises above colder air.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;img src="http://community.middlesex.mass.edu/photos/mccblog/images/1856714/500x375.aspx" /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The MCC students were great role models for the middle schoolers, who got a small taste of college life for the afternoon.&amp;nbsp; Give a cheer for STEM Club event organizers Amelia McHugh, Karen Gupta, Fiona Almeida, and Paloma Pagano-Rodriguez!&amp;nbsp; Keep the cheer going for the other MCC students who helped out - Milena Spirova, Matt Kelly, Charlotte McHugh, Edson Novinyo, Piseth Teng, Fran Palacios, Rebekah Dufrene, Hassan McKusick-Shreim, Ann Marie Cambio, Yesehaq Fauconier, and STEM faculty advisors Margie Bleichman and Maria Arambel!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;img src="http://community.middlesex.mass.edu/photos/mccblog/images/1856712/281x375.aspx" /&gt;&lt;img src="http://community.middlesex.mass.edu/photos/mccblog/images/1856711/281x375.aspx" /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;And just for good measure, to leave you singing a song, at least for the rest of today, cue the lyrics, and you&amp;#39;re welcome:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;img src="http://community.middlesex.mass.edu/photos/storage/1000.22.1856719.10.jpg" /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Would you like to ride in my beautiful balloon&lt;br /&gt;Would you like to ride in my beautiful balloon&lt;br /&gt;We could float among the stars together, you and I&lt;br /&gt;For we can fly we can fly&lt;br /&gt;Up, up and away&lt;br /&gt;My beautiful, my beautiful balloon&lt;br /&gt;The world&amp;#39;s a nicer place in my beautiful balloon&lt;br /&gt;It wears a nicer face in my beautiful balloon&lt;br /&gt;We can sing a song and sail along the silver sky&lt;br /&gt;For we can fly we can fly&lt;br /&gt;Up, up and away&lt;br /&gt;My beautiful, my beautiful balloon&lt;br /&gt;Suspended under a twilight canopy&lt;br /&gt;We&amp;#39;ll search the clouds for a star to guide us&lt;br /&gt;If by some chance you find yourself loving me&lt;br /&gt;We&amp;#39;ll find a cloud to hide us&lt;br /&gt;We&amp;#39;ll keep the moon beside us&lt;br /&gt;Love is waiting there in my beautiful balloon&lt;br /&gt;Way up in the air in my beautiful balloon&lt;br /&gt;If you&amp;#39;ll hold my hand we&amp;#39;ll chase your dream across the sky&lt;br /&gt;For we can fly we can fly&lt;br /&gt;Up, up and away&lt;br /&gt;My beautiful, my beautiful balloon&lt;br /&gt;Balloon...&lt;br /&gt;Up, up, and away.....&lt;/p&gt;&lt;img src="http://community.middlesex.mass.edu/aggbug.aspx?PostID=1856720" width="1" height="1"&gt;</description></item></channel></rss>
