A Strong MCC Accounting at DECA

Middlesex students Daniel Iknaian of Waltham and Stephen Collins ot Tyngsboro traveled recently to Washington DC to compete in the Collegiate DECA championships.

There were over 1,500 finalists who had won their regional competitions from two and four-year colleges across the nation who attended the DECA conference and championship.

Representing MCC, Daniel took home three medals by placing in the Top 10 in all three categories of the competition - written exam, case study and presentation - in the accounting category.  Making Daniel's accomplishment even more notable, he competed against 60 regional finalists from across the country, the majority of whom were college seniors who will be graduating with a bachelor's degree in Accounting this month..

Stephen won 2 medals in the preliminary rounds, and then won an additional gold medal and placed third in the championship round in Marketing Management. There were more than 120 regional finalists in this category, so to stand out among his peers and place 3rd in this extremely expansive field is quite a tribute to how well Stephen performed in his final presentation round, not to mention the work our outstanding faculty do in the classrooms.

Give them both a well deserved DECA  round of applause!
