Crazy About the Fox

Michael J. Fox came to town Friday night for a sold-out Celebrity Forum at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium and the movie and television star turned author and activist repeatedly brought the crowd of his fans to their feet during his emotional and inspirational performance!

It didn't hurt that Fox chose to don an MCC hockey jersey before he kicked into an homage to his guitar-playing Johnny B. Goode rendition across the LMA stage!

From his arrival to his departure, Fox was a true gentlemen, posing for hundreds of pictures with the Celebrity Forum's sponsors and supporters.

Once he hit the stage, he delivered a powerful, emotional, and uplifting speech, followed by a question-and-answer session that showed how bravely the Hollywood icon is handling his decades-long, very public battle with Parkinson's Disease.

In the audience were several attendees who are suffering from Parkinson's themselves, as well as dozens of people who will be participating in a bicycle ride in New Hampshire to help fund research into battling Parkinson's.

The night also featured the awarding of scholarships to eight MCC students.  Proceeds from the annual event go toward the MCC Foundation, which helps support dozens of student scholarships across the college.

The Celebrity Forum has been supported since its inception 14 years ago by the presenting sponsor, the TJX Companies, Inc., and here, TJX Vice-President Jerome Smalls strikes an animated pose with Fox.

Straight from Fox's Back to the Future flick - it wouldn't actually time-travel (that is, unless, you drove it at 88 mph), but the night did feature a Delorean out front, sans flux capacitor and plutonium, of course.

Enjoy the rest of these pics from the night!

Yes Michael, you are indeed, number one in our books!

A mix of humor and inspiration.  He is a remarkable human being with more optimism than most people I know.  I took away a great deal from his presentation – including some advice on parenting!  Thank you for bringing him to our community.  Congratulations on a perfect evening!

Michael J. Fox was truly wonderful. He was funny and moving....I had so many emotions during his speech. The Bobby Orr story, when he met his wife, his optimistic outlook and how self depricating he was about his fame and success. "A woman gave birth in a tree; what do you got" will haunt me everytime I whine even a little bit about anything.

Loved it all!!

I am truly thankful to have been part of the audience that got to experience Michael J. Fox.  I have always been a huge fan.  We share a passion for hockey, and it was a proud moment when he donned the MCC Hockey jersey.  All of our coaches were in attendance and they were just blown away!  Thanks to all.
