Hip to Win FOR the Win!

Trivia Night's Spring 2011 competition saw a new, groovier champion stepping into the winner's circle, and it was a 1960s throwback group that claimed first place when the pixie dust settled!  Congrats go out to Hip to Win team members Barry Brown, Camille Brown, Kathy Gehly, David Gehly, Vinnie Funaro, Pat Bruno, Jeff Tejada, and Pat Fleming for the hippiest victory yet!  (Some folks think it was their brain-food menu of mushrooms, yogurt dip, tabouli and brownies that gave them an extra edge. Others think it was the distraction of seeing Vinnie Funaro with a roaring afro that tipped the scales in their favor.)

As always, proceeds from the fun-packed event go to benefit the Middlesex Community College Foundation.  This season's outing saw two student teams joining the fray, the folks from student government (SUGA) and the scholars from Phi Theta Kappa!  SUGA even set a new bar for foodstuffs, bringing the first-ever spiral ham to a Trivia Night contest!

Provost Phil Sisson lent his judiciary prowess to the event as a judge, Jim Grenier from the faculty side joined with Mary-Jo Griffin to stumble through the questions, Melissa Troche from the Advancement office ran the raffles and even offered up some complimentary answers to anyone who was listening, and fun fiend Jonathan Crockett once again provided technical support for the night.  Thanks to Donna Corbin and Heather Cook for running the floor.

This spring's contest went right down to the final round, with a horse-race between three of the teams.  The Age of Aquarius players pulled out the victory in the final round! They weren't sure whether to flash peace signs or a number one victory sign after the event!

Here's a photologue of most of the night's competitors.

The evening also saw the debut of the upcoming MCC Bike Challenge (being held on June 5) official cycling jerseys, modeled here by three of the folks who'll be pedaling their way to accolades at the challenge!

Great job again by all, see you all in the fall, with a NEW edition of Trivia Pursuit to bust your brains!

What an amazing community of folks here at MCC!  We filled a room with 100 faculty, staff, students, friends, family, partners/spouses, dressed in all sorts of costumes, laughing hysterically at times, chowing food, wracking their brains for answers, cheering for each other, and having an absolute blast!  Thanks to everyone who made this event possible by planning or attending - your involvement is much appreciated, and made this event a highlight of the year.

And a special thanks to Pat Cook's wonderful college blog for bringing this event to everyone who wasn't fortunate enough to be there in person!
