Hollywood in the Neighborhood
The Fighter came to the MCC neighborhood today, filming shots for the upcoming big-screen movie about Lowell boxing great Mickey Ward along East Merrimack Street, just a block from MCC's city campus. The movie features Mark Wahlberg in the title role, with Christian Bale playing the role of Ward's brother, Dicky Eklund.
The street was closed to traffic most of the day, and literally hundreds of curious onlookers strolled along East Merrimack Street to watch a piece of Hollywood filming on the Mill City streets.
Intrepid MCC field reporter to the stars Mandy Vozzo ventured out for a glimpse at stardom, and snagged a couple of quick shots. That's Bale with the baseball cap on backwards, obscuring Wahlberg behind him. The Davidson Street parking lot was filled all day with the trailers and trucks for the crew.
