And the Nominees are.......
Congrats go out to a pair of MCC's own, who have been nominated as candidates for the All-USA Community Colleges Academic Team!
Damian Gray of Methuen and Michelle Lehoullier of Pepperell are this year's MCC nominees. The annual recognition program administered by the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society honors outstanding two-year college students who show intellectual rigor in their course of study, demonstrate academic leadership and civic growth, and who extend their community college educations to better themselves, their schools and their communities. The national winners will be announced in April.
Damian is a Business Transfer major who is graduating this month. He has a 3.80 cumulative GPA; he is enrolled in the Honors Program and serves as the chair of the Student Honors Council, as well as is a member of the Business and Economics Club and is the captain of the Federal Reserve Board Challenge team. Damian has been accepted at Babson, Bentley, UMass Lowell, UMass Boston, and Salem State, and plans to major in Management. His first choice is Babson College. Depending on what he receives in transfer scholarships and financial aid assistance, Damian may return to Middlesex for the spring semester to take additional transferable courses. Damian is a returning adult student; prior to coming to Middlesex, he worked as an Aviation Mechanic. He completed our Aviation Management degree before deciding to continue his studies as a Business Transfer major.
Michelle is a Liberal Arts and Sciences major who will be graduating in May. She has a 3.78 cumulative GPA; she is enrolled in the Honors Program, and is also a member of the Student STEM committee and the Student Success program. Michelle plans to transfer to Wellesley College in September as an Ecological Restoration and Environmental Education major. She is an active member of the Sustainability committee and represented the college at Power Shift 2007 at the University of Maryland. A returning adult student, Michelle has 3 sons and manages her husband's small business. Michelle also works as a nurse; after working in that field for many years, she returned to Middlesex to follow her dream of working to provide the world a more sustainable future.
Give it up for two of MCC's finest!
