RFID at MCC
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a growing industry, with RFID products becoming an attractive and economical alternative to existing tagging products such as the bar code. RFID is a technology based on the use of electromagnetic coupling in the radio frequency portion of the electromagnetic spectrum, and is used to uniquely tag products, vehicles, livestock, or persons.
MCC's RFID certificate program consists of three courses - RFID intro (4 hours), RFID Site Planning (30 hours) and RFID systems (30 hours). All three courses are designed to prepare students for the CompTIA RFID+ certification exam, but each class can be taken individually.
One course, RFID Site Planning, begins this Friday, and covers the basic concepts of radio frequency physics and radio interference. Another course, RFID systems, drills down deeper into the technology, and is being offered twice, beginning in April.
Additionally, everything comes together on Wednesday, March 19, at MCC's RFID day-long conference, being held in the Bedford campus center. Representatives from retail, health care, RFID product manufacturing and systems integration, defense and academic research will share their experiences and best practices for implementing RFID in the workplace. You even get to attend RFID boot camp! (We'll let you imagine the particulars behind that session.)
