MCC Dean Named to Lowell School Superintendent Search Team

Dr. Molly Sheehy, the Dean of MCC's Lowell campus, has been named to the Citizens' Screening Committee to select the next Superintendent of Schools in the city of Lowell.  The group, which is chaired by former Mayor Eileen Donoghue, was introduced to the Lowell School Committee last night.

The screening committee is being tasked with weeding through the nearly two dozen applications that the City of Lowell has received from applicants interested in replacing Dr. Karla Brooks-Baehr, who announced earlier this year that she was moving on when her contract expires in June.

This is not Sheehy's first time through this process. In 2000, she served on a similar committee, the group that eventually gave the nod to Brooks-Baehr.

Sheehy is no stranger to the city school system.  A former Lowell public school teacher, and one of the first MCC administrators brought on when Middlesex came to Lowell more than 20 years ago, Sheehy has long chaired MCC's K-12 Partnerships with the Lowell public schools.
