Winners Never Cheat, Cheaters Never Win at MCC
The Patriots using video cameras to tape their opponents' play-calling? The Indianapolis Colts piping deafening crowd noise through their PA system? Steroids? Referrees on the take? Good gosh, is nothing sacred in sports anymore?
On Tuesday, folks will get a chance to hear from two experts in the sports field on the state of Ethics in Sports. Tuesday morning, November 13, at 10:30 a.m. in MCC's Bedford Campus Center, former New England Patriot Steve Nelson and WCVB-TV sportscaster Mike Lynch will tackle the current issues plaguing not just professional sports, but athletics across the board in an open forum discussion.
From sportsmanship and respect for opponents and teammates, to cheating and winning at all costs, the program will address ethical considerations in professional sports.
Nelson was a linebacker with the Pats from 1974-1987. A three-time All Pro selection, Nellie was inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame in 1993. Throughout his career, he missed only three games and currently ranks sixth all-time in games played for the Patriots.
Lynch has been the principal sports anchor at Channel 5 in Boston since 1985. For seven consecutive years, he has been voted the Massachusetts Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportswriter and Sportscasters Association.
The event is open to the public. For more information contact Rebeccal Newell at newellr@middlesex.mass.edu or 781-280-3763
