Sox and Rox on Fox in the World Series

The Fall Classic is upon us, and as regular readers of this blog will attest to, we teased WAAAAYYYY back in April about the great season to come. Don't believe us?!?!  Just scroll down further into the blog for proof!

So anyway, now that the Sox have knocked the halos off the Angels and showed the Tribe that a Nation prevails, it's off for a Rocky Mountain High out in Colorado against the Rockies for the winner take all World Series!  (Sorry for riffing Dane Cook for those who've endured his ad nauseum Actober commercials this post-season.)

Game one starts tonight with Cy Young shoe-in Josh Beckett taking the mound for the Sox.  Start time is somewhere about 8:21, just after John Williams and the Boston Pops bring down the house with a stirring rendition of the National Anthem.

So here's your chance to show your co-workers what a sports fan and true prognosticator you really are.

Weigh in here with your predictions:  Who wins the Series?  In how many games?  Who's the Series MVP going to be?  Any surprise heroes?

Which of its television series will Fox over-promote with those annoying ticker commercials?  Will Joe Buck and Tim McCarver have ANYTHING complimentary to say about the BoSox?  Which team boasts the best singer/songwriter - James Taylor or John Denver?  The better beer - Sam Adams or Coors?  The better cartoon - Family Guy or South Park?

And finally, what's President Cowan's Cabinet meeting going to be like first thing on Thursday morning after an undoubtedly late, super-charged first game tonight?!?!?!?!

The person who logs the most correct answers gets a full off-season of unchallenged bragging rights.

Let's hear from you!

First things first: There is a remarkable Lowell conection to Game 1.  The Lowell High School Air Force Junior ROTC Color Guard will present our nation's colors for the National Anthem just before the start of the game. These are the same terrific kids who do such a great job as part of the MCC Commencement each spring.  They are well skilled, dedicated and look like a million bucks whenever they invited to appear.  And they're great people, as anyone who chats with them at their various community events can attest.

Being invited to present the colors in Game 1 of the World Series is a very big deal for any ROTC unit.  The miitary academies (West Point, Annapolis, etc.)and the college ROTC units in the northeast would jump at the chance to be at Fenway and perform this duty.  But the honor is going to the Junior ROTC unit at Lowell High School.  This will be noted by the broadcasters, especially those on the Armed Forces TV and Radio networks, broadcasting to military units all around the globe, including those in Iraq and Afganistan. What a thrill for the military folks from this area on duty around the globe to see the Lowell High School students presenting the flag during the national anthem.

Way to go Lowell High School!

PS: Sox in 6.
