A Nice Nod From NISOD
Slightly belated kudos go out to two of MCC's finest, recognized at this year's MCC Opening Day Convocation for receiving Excellence Awards from the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD).
Professors Linda Pintrich and Deborah Walsh were honored for teaching and leadership excellence in higher education nationally.
Walsh is chairperson of the Legal Studies department at MCC, and co-director of the MCC Law Center, a local consumer protection program that works in cooperation with the Massachusetts Attorney General's office. She received a J.D. from Suffolk Law School and served as legal counsel for ComFed Savings Bank for eight years before joining MCC. She also has taught at Bentley College and Suffolk Law School. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Walsh was a high school music teacher in Ayer. She received bachelor's and master's degrees in music from UMass Lowell. Walsh lives in Windham, N.H.
Pintrich is a professor at MCC in the Social Science and human Services division. She's been with us at MCC since 1989. She teaches Criminal Justice and interdisciplinary courses. Before joining MCC, she served as Director of Training for the NYC Health and Hospitals Corporation and taught at C.W. Post College. She received a Ph.D. from John Jay College, CUNY, and bachelor of arts and MPS from C.W. Post College, Long Island University. She lives in Nashua, N.H.
NISOD is the service division of the Community College Leadership Program, a doctoral-level training program for community college presidents, vice-presidents, and deans. NISOD is dedicated to the professional development of faculty, administrators and staff and to the continued improvement of teaching and learning with the ultimate goal of student success. More than 700 community colleges around the world are NISOD members.
