Best Wishes for an MCC Stalwart

WBZ radio talk show host Paul Sullivan, a familiar face to many at MCC, today announced he'll be stepping down from his nightly gig on WBZ-1030 to spend more time with his family and focus more intently on his health issues.  Sullivan, who has taught business courses for MCC and has worked with the President's office on leadership projects, expects to spend more time stomping around his Lowell digs, in particular the Lowell Sun, now that he's cut his nightly radio gig out of the picture.  Just recently, Sullivan participated as a media voice in a panel during the Methamphetamine Abuse conference organized by MCC's Program on Homeland Security.  Sullivan has been undergoing surgeries and treatments for brain cancer for about 2 1/2 years.  Throughout the entire experience, though, he's maintained his sharp wit and political acumen.

Sullivan promises to up his profile in Greater Lowell more, with his daily commutes to Boston now a thing of the past.  Don't be surprised to see him wandering the halls of MCC again in accordance with that.

Best wishes from the MCC community to Paul for a continued healthy recovery and kudos for his enduring courage!

There's a reason Paul's my role model in life. It's probably that lopsided grin. Paul - We'll miss you on 'BZ, but glad you'll be around Lowell even more. All the best, Terry Downes

Paul has been one of my favorite people since we met at UML many years ago. I have watched his career thrive with awe. I became a fan of his his work on 'BZ; how he was able to put the shows together every night is incredible. I would find myself laughing out loud sometimes....I'll miss that humor every night. I have always marveled at his talent, now I marvel at his strength and his courage. I look forward to more Paul sitings in the MCC hallways and experiencing that humor in person!

Paul is one in a million!  He has been a major contributor to our college and our community.  I'll miss listening to the evening radio show, but I recognize that his health is his first priority.  I hope he rests and takes care of himself.  All of us at the college are thinking of him each day.

It was certainly refreshing to listen to a man who says what he means, and means what he says. Paul always does, and I will miss not hearing him on a regular basis.  A good man, never afraid of expressing his opinion and speaking his mind - which always was value added to any discussion.

Continued Godspeed to Paul and his family.

I'm hoping Paul will check out this blog - Paul, you have a lot of friends here at MCC and certainly all over New England who are wishing you the very best.  Like so many others, I've thoroughly enjoyed your radio shows.  During the past few years, I've especially enjoyed tuning in after my two toddlers would finally fall asleep...I'd fire up the computer, pour a cup of coffee and get some work done while listening to your show.  No matter what the topic, you always have an interesting perspective and your humorous wit is very entertaining!

I admire you for sharing your experiences about your battle with cancer. You are clearly an inspirtation to all.  Even though I will miss hearing you on the air, I'm happy for you and your family that you will be spending more time together.

I hope, since you plan to be in Lowell more often, that you will stop by the office frequently.  I'll even spring for lunch!  So, please don't be a stranger!

My very best to you Paul. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Paul and I made arrangements a number of years ago for him to teach Business Administration courses at MCC after a "lull" in his earlier teaching at the college. I know he put his heart and soul into working with the students, as he does with everything that he takes on. I am a WBZ listener in my drive time during the morning, daytime, and nights, and will miss Paul's evening show, at which he was a "high impact player". I hope to see Paul at City Campus soon. His sense of humor is famous, but I also respect his candor and his sincerity with his colleagues and friends........and the obvious love he has for his family. I am so glad that our paths have crossed over the years and I look forward to more "quality time" with a real pro and great guy !
