Campus Security Discussion with the Bedford PD

Following on the heels of a successful public forum on campus safety held in conjunction with the Lowell Police Department, MCC administrators on Wednesday will host a public meeting in partnership with Bedford Police.

Nearly 75 students, faculty members, and staff and administrators attended a forum on Monday in Lowell.  President Carole Cowan, along with members of her Emergency Management Team, fielded questions regarding campus safety, particularly in the city campus buildings.  Lowell Police Superintendent Kenneth Lavallee brought several members of his command staff to meet with personnel.

This Wednesday, President Cowan brings her team members to Cafe East at 11 a.m. in Bedford, to pair with Bedford Police Chief James Hicks to meet with students, staff and faculty from the southern tier.

President Cowan has repeatedly said she wants people on campus to feel safe at MCC, and hopes that the public safety forums give personnel an opportunity to ask any questions they might have - not just about security on campus, but personal safety as well.

It was a really great discussion. The school really tries to reinforce the security around campus and I really appreciate the effort.

It is great that we are reinforcing new and old rules, in our security system, but most importantly we the students and staff at Middlesex should be more observant of our surroundings. If we see or hear something that is not right please bring it to our security or staff's attention.  It's better to be safe then sorry.

Let's stay safe.
